Spelling

Any publisher of a currently available spelling program will show you the research that provides proof of its success. Whatever grade a student makes on a test, true spelling mastery is seen when students spell words correctly in their everyday writing. There are some words that are considered -no excuse- words. These are words that should be spelled correctly every time:

Spelling Grades

The adopted language arts program for Montgomery County is currently Houghton Mifflin. They include spelling lists in their program that help students to better understand the sounds and structures of words. Houghton Mifflin provides fun online games for students to use with the words being covered. The company also provides practice and study sheets in the language arts student workbooks. Students will be graded on the written activities given for classwork or homework. There will be no traditional spelling test.
